Intertwined!

Oct 18, 2011 | Category: Notes from the Bakery

We carry on many traditions here in our bakery. For example, recipes used by my father and grandfather are still used, even though in some cases quicker and more cost-efficient methods have been developed. Additionally, we still bake dozen, upon dozen, upon dozen, upon--okay, you get the point--traditional German holiday cookies each year. Each day, we honor the past and our predecessors in the work that we do.

Which is why we are so thrilled when customers include our treats in their daily lives and traditons. I recently met with a bride-to-be whose mother's wedding cake was baked by us 24 years ago. And, I just received the below note:

Dear Bredenbeck's,
What an absolutely wonderful treat it is to be able to access Bredenbeck's once again, after a 30-year absence (while I lived in Manhattan)!

I grew up on Hortter Street in Mt. Airy, just two blocks from (where Bredenbeck's was located) at the time. I cherished the exceptional cinnamon buns and exceptional oatmeal raisin cookies. New York has a lot to offer (including 14,000 restaurants, for one), but I could never find the level of exceptional quality that I remembered was the product flow from your bakery.

I joy now with thoughts of years to come, just minutes away from Bredenbeck's! Thanks huge!

With much appreciation,

R. Fulton Smith Macdonald

We're humbled and honored each day by our loyal customers. You make the early mornings (and sometimes late nights) so worth it for us!

Have we become a part of your life? We'd love to hear how! Send us a comment and share.
